The Day I Took a Ride From The Hotel Manager and Almost Passed Out

???????????????????????????????

It all started in the end of my internship, after working 19 days in a row to have the last days of the month dismissed. I was finally in vacations in Greece when Mr. Babis, the human resources manager, asked me if I wanted to give blood, the next day. Trying to be a good person, I said ‘of course’. After all, it would be a kind of a new experience: giving blood in a foreign country.

I convinced my partner and Alina, a super cool ukrainian girl, to do the same. So, Mr. Babis told us to be early in the morning at the hotel, to have a good breakfast and to rest properly. That’s what we did.

We had to wait for a long time until Mr. Timos, our beloved hotel manager, was ready to go. (He was also volunteering to give blood.) But what we didn’t know was that he was going to drive us there. The blood donation took place in one of the other Sani Resort hotels and we could only get there in time by car, but we thought we would go by the hotel bus or something. We weren’t expecting at all we would get in our hotel manager’s BMW.

Top 10 Things I Absolutely Loved About Santorini

Santorini is the most magical place I have ever been to. They don’t lie when they say you will fall in love with this beautiful island. Some say it’s too touristic but I think it didn’t lose its essence. Of course in Fira and Oia you almost only see tourists, but there are other places more authentic.

So, here is my top 10 things I absolutely loved about Santorini:

Synavlia – Where People Become Family

???????????????????????????????

I still remember when I first entered Synavlia, a small cafe managed by a wonderful greek family. A few days after we arrived, me and my partner back then were wandering around Nea Moudania looking for some spots with Wi-Fi, once we didn’t have it on our room.  Nea Moudania is a small town in Halkidiki, Northern Greece, where I’ve lived and worked for two months, for those who haven’t read any other post on this blog.

Summer in Halkidiki

In the last posts I’ve mentioned my adventure in Greece, so I think it’s time to talk a little about it. This last summer, from the end of June to the middle of September, I decided to enjoy Greece as much as I could. I was going to work for two months at Oceania Club Ultra All-Inclusive Resort, in Nea Moudania, Halkidiki.

I must admit that the first times weren’t easy. For a girl who was only used to work at some small/medium events, it was a little bit hard to get used to work 10 hours per day, always in stress and in a hurry, and with only 4 days-off per month. I didn’t sleep that much, I couldn’t spend much money because I only had 150€ for a month and a half (of course, food and accomodation were provided, so I didn’t had that much to spend my money), I was tired, my feet were in ultimate pain… Well, all my body was in ultimate pain. Then, I got homesick, I missed my family, my dogs, my friends, my country… I didn’t have Internet in my room, so it was difficult to catch up the news, and so on… I can say that the first month was a bit of hell, for me.  I was a little baby crying and complaining about the people that made me feel like shit and all the competition for such stupid things like glasses and cutlery.

One day, I decided to change completely my mind. Continue reading

Fira, Santorini, September 2013
Better than to see the sunset playing with the colors of the sky and almost kissing the quiet, but powerful, caldera is to see its reflections on the white-washed walls of the houses and caves of Santorini. Fira is the capital of Santorini and one of the most crowded places of this beautiful island. It was the first city we visited in our ten days greek vacations.
Breathtaking.

Caveland, Santorini – Hostel Review

Caveland Hostel – Kartherados
After working two months in Nea Moudania, we (me and my beloved partner back then) decided to go to Santorini for 6 days. And it was one of the most wonderful trips I have ever done in my short travel life. It all started with the most amazing hostel in Santorini – Caveland, in Kartherados. And I must say that this was the first hostel I have ever been.
At first, we wanted to be in a double room to have a little more privacy, but when we booked we didn’t have the double room available for the first three nights, so we decided to book the 6-dorm because it was the only one available all days, of the ones that were possible for our budget. So… Continue reading
